For single moms and their children

Family Care Program

The Family Care Program has provided a safe haven for single mothers and their children since 1979. It is a place where mothers and their children can heal from their past and transition into successful, independent futures. Most importantly, the family stays together.

The residential program houses up to five families in each cottage, with resident staff supervision and role modeling of everyday living skills. Mothers work toward self-sufficiency in a healthy environment that helps each person and the whole family grow.

  • Criminal background check

You can apply online, or visit our lobby at 1101 N Mays St., Round Rock, Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm and Friday from 8am to 12pm to complete a paper application. Our intake coordinator will reach out about next steps. If Family Care is not the right fit, we can refer you to other help.

Our partners and how Welcome HOME began

Local organizations partner with us to offer their services inside the Drop-in Center during open hours, so young adults can find more support in one place. Partners include Awaken Church and Opportunities for Williamson and Burnet Counties.

In 2018, several agencies came together to discuss how to help young people aging out of foster care, juvenile services, and community youth programs. In 2022, Georgetown Health Foundation, The Georgetown Project, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Transformative Justice, and Williamson County Juvenile Services created coordinated partnerships to help young adults move from crisis to stability. That partnership became the Welcome HOME program, and in spring 2023 Texas Baptist Children’s Home and Georgetown Health Foundation opened the Welcome HOME Drop-in Resource Center.

Our programming is built on SAMHSA’s eight dimensions of wellness: social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, environmental, financial, and occupational.

Hankamer-Fleming Chapel

Named in honor of Curtis Hankamer and William Fleming of Round Rock, the chapel was built in 1955 and has signified new beginnings for children and families ever since. It has comforted thousands of children who have lived at Texas Baptist Children’s Home and witnessed hundreds of newlyweds begin their lives together.

Inside the Hankamer-Fleming Chapel

Built five years after Texas Baptist Children’s Home opened, the chapel began as a place of worship for children in residence and through the years has helped launch several churches. Its stained glass windows show children in the Bible who were raised by someone other than their parents, milestones in Jesus’ life, and Jesus welcoming the little children into his open arms. Each window is a reminder that God loves children and welcomes anyone with pain and suffering.

The chapel also stands for community partnership. Curtis Hankamer and William Fleming provided the money to build it, and nearly 20 years later Diane and Stanley Williams gave the chapel its bells in memory of their 16-year-old daughter. It is more than a building. It is at the heart of our campus, just as Christ is at the heart of our ministry.
